  1. Update

    Hi all,

After the successful past years that we went to North Wales, near Criccieth, shooting woodcock-snipe, I'm organizing more shooting days.

The dates are calculated on the full moon, to give us a better chance. dates as follow:

    10 November 2014
    11 November 2014

    7 guns per day available

    08 January 2015 1 gun available

    09 January 2015 Fully Booked

Everything will be organized the same way like the last years that we have been, £125 per day, mid morning refreshment and pub lunch included.

    Regards

  2. Easy really - once the fruit (damsons or plums in the case of plum whisky or any of the "sweet" fruits) is strained from the mix treat it like fresh fruit when making a pie or crumble except reduce the sugar in the bake as the fruit will have absorbed some in the brew - can't say by how much as everybody uses different sugar levels in both brewing and cooking to their taste :/

    Thank you

Its a a good day out and reasonably cheap day per gun, compared to other places that organize woodcock shooting, the day normally its planned as follow: meet at 9am, to be on shooting land by 9.30am, number of guns allowed its normally 6-8 per day, we take turns in walking, normally 2 walk with the dogs and the others stand in points that keeper says its the best. Refreshments half way thruw the morning and lunch included in the price.

Bags: that is difficult to say, in the past we shot 25 woodcocks 12 snipes 8 pheasants in a day, missing loads of birds , as you know these birds are not relesed, they migrate from russia norway and so on, this year on the second day was the best shooting we ever had, missed several that went up with the dogs and I think the guns where getting used to the way the birds were flying, if there is not many wild birds normally the game keeper decided to take us on his grounds where they keep pheasants/partridges. Personally I think that 1 woodcock its worth ten phesants because of the difficulty in shooting them.

The Challenge its the Snipe, its the most difficult bird to shoot, its unbelivable how fast it can fly and the way that it fly, the first time that I shot one...after many many attempts...I was well chuffed and keepers and beaters made it feel special.

I personally think that for £125 per day its very good, especially if you check the current prices on this site, theres a bloke asking £350 per gun for a 100 birds driven shooting and that is average...but you shoot on pheasants and I don't find them a good sport at all.

How many cartdriges to take...I normally take 2 boxes of very good n6 loads for woodcock and the pheasants and some black gold n7 for the snipe.

We will do one snipe and duck drive, please take some steel cartridges or non toxic.

Please Pm me for any further info or bookings

  4. Hi all,

Myself and Passionforangling, were long due to go out, for a bit of wildfowling, we been checking a couple of places that we have been in the past, a few ducks and one night while visiting I hear the hoink hoink.

We decided to travel south of us for an evening outing, hoping for the goose to show up just before dusk, knowing how ego is Passionforangling to roast them.

We arrived at the designated spot by 5.30/6 pm, got comfy and waited..............

At 7.40 pm, I looked at Passionforangling and said....did you hear that....usual look from him, its in your head Mark, but within 30 seconds, it wasn't in my head, we could hear them, coming low and to wards us, within a few moment a skein of geese, was approaching....about 20.

We managed to bag 2 on the first skein, after 5 minutes a smaller skein came in, but Passionforangling was chasing a goose....ahahahahahaha no gun in hand, but I was ready and begged another one. We were really happy with the result, especially the hoinkroaster, that was telling me how he was going to cook them....long journey home

  6. phaedra1106 - I posted that after I had purchased the LEE 223 and after I had issues with it (which was the reason for the post in the first place) so what point are you trying to make? The main problem I had was with the press construction – the defective frame and the issues with replacement, the attitude from the reseller and the manufacturer, not the use of the item...

Sorry but can you also enlighten me as to “My offer of a free bolt still stands, just let me know what length it is you need.” – a little confused as to where you get so much detail from and where this offer was originally made? I don’t see how you could know the length/type of the bolt unless you are affiliated with CDSG or LEE, because none of those details were disclosed on any of my posts. Can you kindly advise who you are and why you would be so interested in trying to correct this issue?

    Paranoia comes to mind

  7. Gents,

Met this morning with Camokid(Andy), to show me how he builds his quad sticks, I had a great welcome in his house and Andy is a true gentleman, plus he made me a nice set of Quad sticks, that works great, can't wait to learn how to use them properly.

    Again Thank you
