  1. Hear Hear couldn't agree more. Good luck Stuart, great to hear everything is going well.
  2. Yes you are right, a lot of changes since those days. The club house was run by the Americans and if you were a member, the food and drink was discounted, and good stuff it was as well. The atmosphere was excellent, great fun was the order of the day. Still you know the saying "One door closes, another opens"
  3. Pim and Denise did run Lakenheath long before I started shooting, but I know Pim's claim to fame is that he taught Suzi Quatro to hit clays and never stops telling me !!!!!! I also remember Dave Fletcher running 50 birders, though I did hear sadly that he passed away, but those were the days !!!!
  4. Thanks, I was joking though, just tongue in cheek. Spoke to lots of people today with the good news, and all agreed we are looking forward to another shooting ground opening. It will certainly save us a few miles, and great to have a facility just an hour away! I am one of the shooters who remembers the great Lakenheath days.
  5. Great news..........when you say "when we are open for business gentleman!" Did you mean no woman?
  6. Thanks Ed, I think anyone who hesitates too much will miss out by the sounds of it. Susan
  7. Ed, I see it states on their website 334 registered so far, but I wondered if there was somewhere where you can view the competitors names who have registered for the event. Susan
  8. Hi Ed,Did you see this information somewhere, where anyone can look? Susan
  9. As if !!!!! I would say you can check my bag any time, but as I have not idea who you are, I think a little decorum is required. Old Woman
  10. Interesting points and nice to hear from a fellow lady shooter with regard to Fibre wad shells, I will take note about using more choke when using them. BlaserF3 has recommended an Express shell with low recoil, which I think I will try out sometime before the event. It's great to hear all the views from other shooter's. Good shooting in 2013 Thanks Old Woman
  11. Beretta World Sporting – Fibre Wad Only. Although I have been shooting for about twenty years I have never entered a ‘Major’ Competition where Fibre Wad shells are stipulated and have only used borrowed shells (my Hubby) once or twice where there was no other option e.g. the odd time I have been to a Game Fair; therefore I would say that my experience with this type of shell has been very limited. I use Express cartridges and would prefer to stick to what I know I like and purchase some Express Fibre Wad for this event, but it appears there are several different types to choose from, can anyone recommend any they may have used and also rate them on recoil etc. I’d be grateful for any advice as I only need to purchase a few, I don’t think price will be an issue. Many thanks Oldwoman
  12. The B Class Shooter you are referring to has been a member of the CPSA for approximately 25 years and apart from once being in AA was always a very competent A class shooter until the ‘evil’ trigger freeze kicked in.....and is one of many shooters who has struggled to use a traditional ‘pull’ trigger for over fifteen years and it has been a major disability. You can no doubt imagine not only the embarrassment whilst shooting with comments from referees and shooters alike inquiring as to why he didn’t shoot at a target, but never being able to reach his potential with poor scores and endless disappointment week in week out, year in year out. He had contemplated given shooting up completely until a friend whose problem has already been discussed on this forum introduced him to the release trigger. Suffice to say people have now been able to see the ‘true’ shooter. Unless you have suffered this ‘affliction’ or know of a friend who suffers, it is difficult to imagine what actually happens to a shooter who physically is unable to ‘pull’ the trigger and perhaps even more difficult to understand why it is easier to use a ‘release’ trigger. We are at a loss to understand why this has now become an issue, and can only imagine the irrational fear of some referees who may have voiced an opinion, on what grounds we do not know. All shooters comply with the rules and never load a gun until they have entered the shooting position and are ready to call for the target and the gun is facing down range, irrelevant of the type of gun being used. You are quite right he is not a happy bunny. Oldwoman
