  1. Morning gents and gentesses!! I have just acquired a Beretta S686 Special for a good price (I think so anyway) but that price is reflected in its condition, it is a bit tatty. I want to tidy it up a bit how much would it cost me to have the barrells re-blued and the woodwork re done? How can I find out a bit more about the gun? I also want to put steel shot through it, I can't see a fleur de lys anywhere and I can see a number 70 so am I right in thinking I can only use normal steel and not HP steel and 2.75" carts and not the 3" carts? I have the chance to go duck and goose shooting later in the year, given the info above what carts would you recommend for duck / goose. Cheers Steve
  2. Thats great thank you, just need you to sort my order asap and I can play
  3. Ahhhhh, I understand now, thank you. The CENS website sell the batteries for £24 for 60 (either type) so assuming they run out together that would be 30 changes at 400 hours per change (high power battery) a total of 12,000 hours or 500 days, works out at 5p a day B) I have also seen you can get 120 for £32 on Ebay from Germany which is 3.2p a day Thank you , you have a pm
  4. As far as I am aware the batteries always discharge in the same way a hearing aid battery does the larger batteries supposedly last twice as long but the unit is slightly deeper.
  5. Just the standard ones, wishng I had paid a bit more for the higher spec. They say 200 hours which is about 9 days you get 30 batteries so 15 x 9 a total of 135 days use! Not long for almost £500. Hence my thoughts of taking them out.
  6. Just bit the bullet and ordered a set at the British Shooting Show. Hope I haven't wasted my money! Just been working out the battery life and whilst it's not the end of the world it galls me to think they will be constantly discharging. Could you simply take the batteries out when not in use?
  7. I am going to be there Saturday, with my shopping list, will be like a kiddie in a sweet shop!!!! Hoping to treat myself to some Cens ear protection if there are deals on, can't afford them otherwise.
  8. I have loads of trouble with mine ......If I use both the poles together front or back the bird just seems to sink to the floor!! The only way I have had success is to use the bent bit of the pole into the bird coming under the tail and into the spike, I know this isnt correct but it is the only way I can get it to work!!! Must be missing something any help appreciated
  9. that is excellent thank you I have no excuse at all now !!
  10. Morning!!! I was reading somewhere on this forum re decoy pattens etc and someone was talking about the comma pattern but I can't find it now B) Can you elaborate please I guess you place a group of deeks as the 'spot' then an arc running away from it, 1, do you run the arc towards you or away from you 2, is it best if the 'spot' is closest to you sorry if I sound thick but still very new to this fantastic sport.
  11. Sounds very interesting, I live east of Hull which you can just do without falling in the sea I shoot with a friend if I was to join could we both shoot the field or would we both have to join? Also does anyone know if there are fields around the Hull area/ Cheers
  12. Hi newby to pigeon shooting. I bought some decoys and stuff form Ebay and included were two bouncers complete with the foam wings etc. When I set them up it seems the weight of the bouncer causes it to bend fully and the decoy lays on the ground, if i separate the poles it seems to be OK but I cannot see the point of having two poles if the weight is too much, I then bought a new Jack Pyke one thinking it may just be the age of the poles having to much flex in them and exactly the same thing. I put the spike in the ground then connect the poles with the angled end of the pole into the bouncer what am i doing wrong?
  13. OK cheers thqnks for the reassurance. and yes if it works i wont worry but thought I had a good deal with the Jack Pyke one and it wasn't lol Thanks again
