I have only been on this forum a short time but must comment that a lot of threads seem quite hostile

the word public only refers to the fact that shares are able to be purchased by the public.royal mail no longer is owned by the government they hold some of the shares but not controlling interest.it is a private company for all other purpose and the government of the day will have no say in the day to day running of the business.it is widely predicted that around 20% of staff will lose their jobs as a result and there will be closures of sorting and post offices.and the end of Saturday delivery.but I am sure that you will find some info to contradict this.every other publicly owned company that has been sold off has gone downhill as far as service goes yet costs have gone up.recent examples electricity and gas telecom is also a public limited company because its shares were sold to the general public but is still a private company.

royal mail is just a collective of other persons.however they obviously do deliver section 1 and 2 firearms also at no time in my comment did I say it was illegal to use your fac/sgc as id only that it advises against it.as for handguns I know nothing of these as they do not interest me in any way however I am sure there will be many hurdles to go through before being granted one.i will now bow out of this thread as it seems to be going in any direction other than just general discussion.and friendly chatter.

on the met police web site it states that a firearm may not be transported by another person unless they hold a fac/sgc to possess that gun.it says that a rfd may transport your gun in the course of his business at no time does it state that the postman or any other parcel company has exemption from the law there would obviously be a special delivery service for firearms but this is not mentioned on the post office site all I can find is that sporting guns may be carried subject to the laws of the country at that time.also to answer a previous it also recommends you do not use your fac/sgc as a means of id for obvious security reasons.as does lincs firearms dept ot their site.
