  1. I am currently in the process of acquiring my shotgun certificate, and I was wondering about the legal side of shot landing on somebody else's land.

I would be firing on private land, there would be however, be a chance of shot being rained onto surround crop fields (with the help of potential rogue winds).

What I was wondering was, Is it illegal for your shot to carry onto fields that you do not have permission on? Even though the quarry you are shooting at is on your land?

  2. I submitted my SGC application in the second week of December. I received a phone call from a female firearms officer last thursday (makes it out to be 10 weeks from submission to being contacted). I emailed them a few weeks after submitting the application and they said that...

'...The general turn-around time for a new grant application, which involves a visit by one of our enquiry officers, is between 10 and 12 weeks. However, due to the Christmas period and current workload, this may have to be extended...'

I feel that I may be in this for the long haul, but will keep y'all updated.

  3. I totally agree about the Bresnan decision and it was that referral which sparked my enquiry into this topic! It's just a shame because they are become so over reliant on it that it just becomes frustrating to both the spectator (having to watch a replay on a decision which is so clearly out/in) and the players (there is always a delay in play, and it staggers the game up a lot)

Thing is about the front foot no ball, it has to be shown as in very few occasions (granted only a few!), has a decision been overruled by a stray foot over the no ball line. So you have to check it just in case!

  4. I was watching the England v. Australia ODI and I couldn't help but notice that the umpires use the 3rd Umpire referral system an awful lot. Some of the decisions that they send for referral are unbelievably clear (more prevalent on the runout decisions) and it seems that they are scared to make any decisions for themselves.

I am all for the idea of introducing technology into sport and understand that progression is key, but it gets to a point when officials use it every other decision and it becomes ludicrous.

Question is, do you think that umpires should make their own decisions rather than rely on television replays?

  5. I was walking along with the dog along a bit private land and I managed to catch a glimpse of a rabbit darting into the hedgerow.

To cut a long story short, I returned a little later with the trusty air rifle and I managed to snag the blighter.

Astonishingly, this was the first rabbit I have ever shot so you can imagine how I felt after a swift headshot killed it stone dead.

As it was the first, I thought it would be worth trying my hand at preparing the rabbit for cooking. Although I didn't have a clue what I was doing at first, a few youtube videos quickly put me on the right track.

    Here was the final outcome:

Not the best preparation, but not too bad for a first try! Tasted fantastic in a shredded rabbit salad.

The combination of killing and preparing meat for the table was a new experience for me, and one which I will certainly remember.

  6. I have recently bought a new set of tyres for my Peugeot and used a company called 'Tyre and Go'.

They were absolutely fantastic (especially with the free shipping! :good: ) and were really helpful when answering the questions I had.

Might be worth a quick search...

  7. Hi guys,

Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new to this site. I'm from Essex way, and I'm looking to get into a bit more shooting as I haven't had the time to do it in the past.

I'm currently at uni and have recently joined the shooting team at my uni, so I'm just looking to gain more knowledge when it comes to all manners of shooting whether it be clays or bird shooting.

I'll be looking to post and add input around the forum when I can!
