  1. I haven't posted since I got my SGC in June and purchased my first gun. I went for a second hand Miroku 7000 in the end, decided it would hold it's value and it didn't have much of a cast for a righty (I'm left handed).

Anyway since then, I have been lucky enough to find and join a game syndicate in Northumberland only 40 minutes from my home. We shoot over 300 acres of woodland and put down 2000 poults this year. We've managed to put on 9 days so far, with a further 3 planned. We've had some great days usually shooting a bag in excess of 70 except in some of the worst weather where all we seemed to manage to shoot was rain and clouds. My cocker pup is also coming along slowly and I have high hopes for him next season.

How are all your seasons going so far?

  2. Myself and my partner started shooting a while back and I recently received my SGC. I have around £700-800 to spend on my first gun. However as I would like to shoot with my partner and I know she prefers a 20g I can't decide whether to buy one 20g for £700-800 or a 12g and and 20g for a combined price of £700-800?

    I would appreciate any ideas.

    Thanks

  3. So are you booked off work tomorrow to go get your first shotgun, lol.

Not buying a gun straight away is one of the hardest things once your first SGC comes through. Take your time and find the right price and fit for you.

Yeah, I'm trying my best to take my time.

  4. Just an observation but are you sure that the safety rail posts are man enough if someone takes a tumble? :hmm:

Had the same thought and have now added additional posts, they are fixed into the frame with coach screws, they should manage an accidental fall, but perhaps not deliberate attempts to break them.

  5. Yeah, have already fallen foul of the slippery wood. Going to put a square of chicken wire just outside the door, should do the job. Yeah the fence is quite low at that end of the garden, much higher at the other. Hoping to put a trellis up there and grow some kind of climber up it to provide some privacy.

  6. I've been target shooting at local grounds for nearly 12 months and today I posted my SGC grant application to Northumbria Police. Fingers crossed for good news soon.

Hoping it won't be too long (I'm thinking 12-14 months) until I'm shooting over my cocker (still only a pup).
