How small are your feeders? I can't imagine a feeder being emptied in a day, they'd be pointless on most of the ground I'm shooting

I didn't explain that well, it had been emptied in a week from one visit to the next.

  2. Was out early yesterday morning after topping the flip top the day before which was empty again, got there and there was a grey on the box, whether he heard or saw me but when I looked up from getting the gun out of the slip he was gone. Didn't have long to wait as a youngster popped up and was squirrel number 1. A wait ensued until I heard a rustling and looked to my right and about one yard away through the camo net was grey, no chance to do anything just hoped he was on his wait to the box, whether it did or not who knows as it was another wait for squirrel 2 to eat his last peanut. Now the next grey was not happy and flitted about until he stopped on is way down giving me a shot where typically hung on till he dropped, classic head shot. Squirrel number 4 was definately not happy looking at his fallen comrades and just would not settle, took him about five to ten minutes to eventually take a peanut where another head shot got him, so four greys in four hours sort of all equally spaced out, all young, not like the one last week which was a mature boar.

Had a bit of surprise txt yesterday, traditionally my 5k squirrel control perm has been only available from Oct till the end of March (ish), shooting has also been restricted to designated firing points (H&S approved) over each Hopper, now we can not only shoot all year round but we can wander all over the woodlands!!! The land is very popular with families and their kids who play in and out of the rides - might get interesting.

    That sounds great, enjoy.

My brolley would have saved you 🤭

Don't think I've ever seen a picture of your brolly in action?!

  4. Was back out on ambush after topping the feeder up last friday when it was empty, had to go in the afternoon, not my favourite time to shoot as I always find it quiet and so it proved as it took three hours for a customer to turn up, heard the lid bang down and when I looked there was a grey munching a peanut, waited for it to take another and it didn't, it got twitchy looking around and then it started raining, come on you squirrel take a nut and settle and as though it could read my thoughts did exactly that, a quick head shot later it was down and dead, then the heavens really opened up and I was quite wet in no time so packed up and headed home.

  5. Like the look of this fx and its light weight would be an advantage with my dodgy shoulders.

Any chance of an update in how you are getting on with it.

  6. Yes the weather has been a bit damp but managed to get out twice last week and scored three and had to do a temporary fix on a flip top lid which was empty and chewed. Well back today and nothing doing on the first feeder, level hardly gone down, so on to the temp mended one and no peanuts and no lid!, I did have the foresight to take another flip top with me so swapped them over and waited in a very cold breeze for something to happen, three hours later all I had seen was a randy hare chasing his mate.

  7. Been on two wheels for about 50 years starting off on step thrus going up and down the lonning to a fsie when I was 16, also had an ap50 when the fizzy seized, wow do these mopeds make money now, had a brand new kh250 which also seized!  loved my 400/4 used to race to work against a guy on a cb900, he used to leave me on the straights and I'd catch him up on the corners, had a british bitser firstly with a 3ta engine in a bsa a65 frame, then got a a65 engine, a right grot bike which lived up to its name winning many rally trophies, been to over 100 bike rallies, the furthest away in holland, been round europe to gp's and up to the nord cap(cold and wet).Had to sell all my bikes to fund house ownership but when I got a new job with more money thought I'd give hillclimbing a go so bought a kx250, super motoed it and went all over the country trying to win the NHCA 250cc class, damn only came second crashing on the last event of the year going for glory. Not going to give up went road racing the year later on the same bike, sometimes winning my class only for some numpty to knock me off in practice smashing my left leg, severe leg restriction movement meant I could only ride forward footrest bikes so bought a harley, now got a 1200 speedmaster bonneville, would go out on it if it would ever stop raining!!

  8. Back out to the sydicates wood to ambush the flip top, quite a wait when out of the corner of my eye I saw a grey coming up close on the right, I stayed rock still and it passed just a couple of yards away and veered off towards the feeder then I lost sight of it, was waiting for it to hop on the feeder but nothing happened. Back waiting again when I heard the lid bang, ah ha squirrel on, shifted position to line up and squirrel gone, blast!  Waited for a long time again and nothing appeared on the box even though it was empty the day before, maybe they were that fat they couldn't move now. Was scanning all around when I saw a grey perched on a branch looking right at me, wasn't going to wait for it to go on the box, was gonna take my chance and this time it never moved until the pellet hit and down it went.

  9. As I was out last time in the morning and saw nothing even though the feed level had gone down I decided to give the afternoon a go although its not my favourite time of the day for shooting, I find it very quiet. So yesterday afternoon I was waiting patiently in ambush and did have some success with two shot in two hours so a change is as good as a rest!
