  1. Hahaha, maybe just the tip of the peel, parents are South African but my mother's side is all British. I left in 2004 and never been back, most of my family has immigrated to either Australia or Scotland. The family that is still their have said that things have become harder and so much more expensive. Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon tbh which is a shame because it really is a stunning place.

Hahaha West Lothian is top notch, you no seen the stunners requesting livi mall?

  2. Hi all,

I was wondering what the best course of action would be regarding filling in drill holes.

I recently acquired a Baikal 12g with a number of hairline cracks in the stock. I found the start/finish of each crack and drilled a 1.5mm hole and the end of each to try and stop the cracks from creeping and then filled those holes with epoxy.

All seems to be well however I was wondering what the best course of action would, these are my options:

1 - Leave the stock as is, the tiny holes are not that much of a problem to me, its a Baikal so isn't worth much anyway

2 - Sand, fill the holes with wood filler, sand and then Lacquer (thought this would hold the filler better) or wax

3 - Use a mixture of wood glue and saw dust to fill the holes and then wax the stock however I am worries whether the wood glue would actually wax properly

4 - An alternative option suggested by a PW member

Thanks for everyone time and help in advance.

    Cheers,
    Warren

  3. Hi Graham,

Thanks once again for all of these suggestions mate, you have been a massive help.

I will put a holiday request in with the boss (the wife) and will see if I am free next Sunday 26th, It would be nice to put a name to a face. Is this a closed competition or are newbies allowed to participate? If so is it just a case of turning up on the day? and meet some of the guys.

The Tuesday evening shoot sounds brilliant and would be an ideal place to meet other shooters within the central belt and learn from the masters :)

    Cheers,

    Warren

  4. Alright mate, thanks for the heads up about that 60 bird sporting every sunday, didn't even know that club existed but it sounds top notch. I'll def drop Tam a message as I'm keen for that next again Sunday.

I look forward to hearing about this alternative option as well, sounds interesting.

Thanks once again for your help mate, appreciate it.

  5. Evening all,

Thought its about time i said hi and introduced myself. I have been an active silent user for a while so thought I best introduce myself.

Shooting interests are mostly Skeet and Sporting clays however pigeon shooting is starting to look like fun so would like to eventually move into that.

Nice to meet all of you, there seems to be rakes of bant here with some brilliant characters so looking forward to getting more involved.

    Cheers

    Warren
