Yes, Altberg are expensive but they are so well made and designed. If you look after your boots they will last for years and with the factory resoling price starting at £50 over time they can be a good investment. I was so impressed with a pair of Altberg Defenders that I bought a second new pair just to put by. Never done that before. The current ex army but new boots are a real bargain. Altbergs own Leder-gris seems to be excellent for waterproofing.

+1 for altberg, I use them for work, had two pairs in 5 years, only bought a second pair to wear whilst first ones were getting re-soled.

Exclusivley use their leder-Gris on them to keep them supple/waterproof, no cracking or no wet feet apart from the odd time I go too deep and water goes over the top. Great stuff.

  2. So I went and got it, put 25 cartridges through it and all is fine, ejects well, bolt moves freely and smoothly.

Great fun to shoot, probably won’t use it an awful lot, although I do fancy a bit of squirrel/rabbit bashing at some point if I can find somewhere nearby.

Thanks for the replies, pleased I went for it. Oh and got some more money off it too ?? Think I got a really good deal.

  3. So. My local shooting ground has a little .410 bolt action Webley and Scott for sale.

Really tempted to buy it, it’s up for £75 which I thought a little steep initially but done a bit of googling and seems to be at the lower end of the price range.

Mare these as fun as they look? And could I actually use it for anything? ?

  4. I have aigle parcour iso, had them 4 years, I wear them 5-6 days a week and they still look new. As comfy as a pair of slippers and warm as you could ever want from wellies

Many dad has le chameau’s and I much prefer the aigles. Can’t comment on the Dunlop’s though.

  6. Mines fitted above the skirting, When FEO came round asked if I could build a plinth underneath the cabinet as someone could get a low profile car jack or crowbar under it and try and prise it off the wall.

Although she did comment that she was just being picky as it would be likely the flooring would give way long before the cabinet would come off the wall.
