Put to good use last Saturday with 30g 6's(its all I had in) two for two.....sadly it went downhill from there.

I should get some lighter carts as the 12 y/o is eyeing it up.

Had a mixture of odd shells out with me last week most of which were 28g but I came across a couple of Hull driven Grouse 30g 6s. The sxs handled them well and they weren't too punchy in the lighter gun.

I have two SxS, one is a Zabala steel proof'd for wildfowling that didn't cost me a great deal and is as such a tool.

The other is my Gunmark (Arrieta) Viscount 12 bore(pictured).

Choked 1/4 and 1/2 28" barrels , it would have to be some life changing event to make me part with it. It fits like a glove and I've had some fantastic days with it and hopefully many more to come

I did flirt with a single trigger AYA XXV Churchill for a season, a beautiful gun but too short in the stock and I was too inconsistent and it had the habit of randomly double discharging so I got shot of it.

I'm trying to convince the youngest lad(12) to convert to a SxS but he's taking some convincing....I might hunt out a cheap project for him an hope that sparks his enthusiasm, it would have to have a raised rib to bridge the gap in his mind.

Could it possibly be a midland or Lincoln gun? I thought they operated the same kinda way as Birmingham trade makers where they basically supplied guns "in the white" to other firms to finish as well as selling their own.

The top of the barrels has "English Steel Vickers-Works Sheffield" engraved on them. The at the side of the barrels it is engraved "Made in Italy"

  4. Just got my first side by side today. Nothing fancy but I wanted something cheap to open up another slot on my certificate and something I could use round our pond and do a bit of rough shooting with.

Never heard of the make before and can't really find much on Internet about it. The makers name seems to be Bignotti. Anyone able to shed any light on them or has anyone owned one of these before?

Pics aren't great but I will try and take a couple of clearer pictures tomorrow.

Another thread resurrection. My latest dealings with McCloys have left me feeling disappointed with the place. Eunan? is only interested in the money. They are still as pushy as ever and seem to be stuck so far up themselves that they don't even recognise their own ignorance. It's as if you've stepped into their world and if you don't play by their rules then you aren't worthy of being one of their customers. If only there was a way to take them down a peg or two. Charging people for services that they haven't even provided, and doing everything they can to avoid having to admit liability for something that was their fault. Never again will I use them.

Between my dad and myself we have been using McCloys for years. Never got that impression from them at all. Always been more than pleasant and helpful to us. Can't say we have ever experienced that sort of thing from them. Wouldn't have a bad word to say about to say about any of the team there.

What was the problem you had with them Cannon?

  6. When I applied for my first FAC here in Northern Ireland I had been waiting 3 to 4 months for it. I was fobbed off so many times by the firearms branch of our police force saying that my certificate was still waiting on a decision with the senior licencing manager. A quick email to BACS firearms team and I had someone call me within an hour or 2. Whatever they done I had my certificate sent out to me within a few days.

Can't complain at all about the service I received from them.

Roast a whole duck, the next night make a risotto with the duck breast and serve with fresh figs. Grill the duck skin and add bashed crisps of skin on top. A game changer pal

That sound good to me! Maybe give it a go.

I think you have, I had better come round and releave you of it before you do yourself some harm:yahoo:

You will almost always get some sediment which is easily filtered out or just pour it very gently so as not to disturb it.    I filter through either a coffee filter or just a piece of kitchen paper set in a funnel.. Been making stuff now for longer than I can remember and I am still here.

That's good Walker it's the first batch I've made so wasnt just sure if that was right or not. It smells ok to!

Will get it opened and filtered into another bottle at christmas when the family is round! Hopefully not poison them 😂😂
