Not at all surprised.
When I heard about what was going on, after the initial shock and disgust wore off, one of the first things that popped into my head were "well, they can kiss their guns goodbye".
As the owner of 2 AR-15's, It makes me grateful I live in a country where gun owners have the numbers and political influence to not be bulldozed when something like this happens.

Americans really like guns. Incidents like this don't change that.
Yet somehow this still surprises people.

the continuos stream of bullets suggests it wasnt magazine fed it was box fed...............and i bet you can buy them at the local store................words fail me...
Doubt it was a belt fed. My guess is he had a drum mag or something similar.

Las Vegas sheriff just said 50+ dead and 200+ wounded at the press conference.

Now Lil' Kim is threatening to fire ballistic missiles into the waters off Guam.
The military is saying if he does they're still going to shoot them down. (THAAD has been successful in 15 of the last 15 tests)

In case anyone was wondering what a war in Korea would look like.

Breaking news: Americans like guns and mass shootings do little to change that.
Seriously, this still surprises people?

Who is that?
Sasha Grey.
Google away.

Interesting video with a pretty good soundtrack, too. Anyone remember Chernobyl?
-
Anyone remember a few months ago when a white cop shot an unarmed black kid in Missouri that sparked weeks of protest and unrest? Well, the grand jury decided not to indict the officer and the excrement has hit the fan.

I've been seeing an albino doe and fawn this season at my hunting location. The doe is good sized and frankly I'm surprised it's survived this long. She practically glows in the dark.

The gun in the video is probably a dealer sample made by an FFL with a class 2 license. A class 2 allows someone to build MG's (for export and law enforcement). A transferable full auto AK will set you back about $15,000.
The Kalashnikovs banned from import by the sanctions were semi-autos. Fully automatic weapons have been banned from import since 1968.

The Oklahoma City bombings didn't result in a huge shift in homeland security. It took something bigger to mobilise public opinion enough to accept the changes you
have had. I'm not saying it will happen, but the risk is there.
I agree about the risk always being there.
But the only way I can see any major gun legislation getting through would be if some terrorist attack occurred with mass casualties carried out with weapons legally obtained on the US market. Something like Mumbai.

If the Sandy Hook massacre couldn't cause a shift in public opinion, nothing will. Support for gun control in the US has been dropping for years.
-
The NRA need to be part of the solution, but instead, they appear to bury their heads when these tragedies happen. I think the US will eventually get some gun control legislation - and it won't be what the NRA will have much say in.
If it happens, and that's a big if, it won't be for a looong time.
And that's fine by me. We have nothing to gain by negotiating with the other side.

Canada has never been immune!
Don't worry, this wasn't terrorism.
They'll probably just call it "workplace violence" like they did here when whats his face shot up Fort Hood a few years ago.

I totally agree. Shooting with a bow usually means that the 'target' dies through loss of blood, rather than an instant kill.......
I met a guy many moons ago from the good old USA. His chum went out in the bow hunting season to bag a bear.
He came across a huge bear and whacked it with an arrow. Bear looked round at him, whereupon he whacked it with another arrow.
Bear made a run at him so he drops his bow and started to scale a tree. Bear started to climb the tree after him, so he drew his trusty Beretta pistol and at point blank he emptied the clip at the bear (he was somewhat worried at the ferocity of the bear, so he gave it all he had). Bear then realised that it was dead, and dropped out of the tree.
Shortly afterwards the local rag ran a headline 'Local hunter shoots record bear with bow!'.
It depends on shot placement more than anything.
I've taken 2 deer with my bow and both died just as quickly and humanely as any I've taken with my .308. You also have to remember that in many US states you can't hunt with firearms at all for the first part of the season. I live in Virginia. Our deer season starts October 4th, but it's archery only for the first 3 weeks.

Every nation has its fair share of idiots. If the yanks could be bothered to watch half the pap on uk tv they would probably think we were a bunch of spanners i'll wager.
I've yet to meet a rude yank and have always found them agreeable.
I've seen Snatch, so I know what England's like.
Do you know the queen?

Tonight's Brazil forecast: dark and cloudy, with a high chance of civil unrest...

Our women's team is amazing, sure.
Our men's team on the other hand couldn't hit water if it fell out of a boat.
