  1. Be careful with taps - they can break very easily and drilling them out is unpleasant. Hopefully you've ordered a set of three (taper, second & plug) - don't just try winding them straight in, try about one full turn, then half back. Good luck!

2/3 of a turn clockwise, 1 turn back to clear it. Use plenty of cutting compound and take you time!!

  2.

What exactly does it mean by "moving" foxes? I thought releasing them elsewhere was one of the less humane methods?

I thought foxes were classed as vermin and as such could not be released once captured?

  3. Years ago at the time when you could get 20 Weights, 2 pints, fish and chips and still get change out of a tanner, there used to be a beautiful beer. It was White shield Worthington. It was a living beer and had to be stored for a couple of weeks before drinking. That was to allow them to settle as they were truly a living beer. Poured gently down the side of the glass it was an experience in itself. Nectar of the gods! Didn't half give you a hangover though but the memories made it worth it.

Doubt if you could get it now but some of the other beers mentioned brought back memories of sessions of epic proportion. Old speckled hen (they have that on draught at my golf club), Old Bob, Theakstones old peculiar. Oh for those heady days when a hangover could be cleared with the old "Hair of the dog."

I had a supplier in at work today. He mentioned that he had drunk a white shield ale in London last week...

  4. That is well worth a thought! I am sure that most of us on here would be happy if a photo or two of ours was used on a calander, especially if the money raised was to go to a "good cause" - Maybe "Help Our Heroes" or similar! :good::lol:

Come on Mods, how about putting your thinking caps on and telling us what you think guys? :P

Maybe even desktops that can be downloaded???

I always find the best thing to do is approach the shoot yourself. Ask around at clay shoots, game fairs and have a look on GunsonPegs, they have a section that lists shoots with contact details

  6. Hi All,

I've been searching through all of the past posts on Steel proofing guns and I am confused - to say the least!!!

I have a Lanber (I think it is an old 2097 with the scrolling along the side of the action??). I have had a look at the markings on the barrels and was wondering if anybody could help me. There is a marking that says '1200Bares', one with the letters 'BP' and one that looks like a shield with the letters 'CH' inside of it.

Does this mean anything to anyone??

Just to add a curve ball in, I spoke to a guy at NWSS and he told me I can use any gun with steel as long as it is with a choke no tighter than 1/2...

I have a box of Gamebore Black Gold clay carts and a box of steel wildfowling carts - both of them say the proof needs to be better than 900kg/cm2 or 3 1/4 tons per square inch and nitro proofed. The only difference on the boxes is that the steel carts say don't use a tight choke.

I've had a look on the Gamebore website and it say's that the steel cart I have is OK to use upto a size 4 in a 'standard' gun, from size 3 and bigger the gun needs to be steel proofed. I have a 32g size 4 cart, does this mean that my gun is OK to use with this cartridge?

Also, what is a nitro proof??

    Sorry for so many questions..

    Thanks
