  1. I've received a thank you case of beer from a client - the case contains beer from around the world.

    Desperados (FR)

    Brooklyn Lager (USA)

    Cruzcampo (SPA)

    Keo (CYP)

    Moosehead Lager (CAN)

    Quilmes (ARG)

    Singha (THA)

    Tsing Tao (CHI)

    Tusker (KEN)

    Victoria Bitter (AUS)

So far I've had VB which was like drinking tap water - and Cruzcampo which was ok, again not much flavour.

The big surprise has been the Brooklyn Lager, I opened it thinking it would be like Miller, far from it - its one of the nicest beers I've tasted :good: now trying to source a few cases!

Any others in the list I should be looking forward to ?

  2. If its on iPlayer, you can use a program called "iPlayer Downloader" - the only problem is, iPlayer isn't good quality if its for TV.

From Sky+ - use a DVD recorder, use an HDMI cable if you can (Sky+ HD?) otherwise its a scart cable.

  3. ........for a family holiday? Yes or No? :hmm:

Depends if you can stand 40+ degrees at almost 100% humidity - I spent a few hours over there last August on the way to Singapore, it was the worst heat I've experienced, instant film of sweat, baking hot, which you can't get away from, not pleasant.

  4. why am i even explaining myself....i was shot, very nearly killed, had serious injuries from 10feet away, why shouldnt i be compensated? whether i am skint or not!! this is why we all pay for insurance, i hope i dont do it to someone else some da

Insurance is to help you at the point of injury/loss or if you suffer from permanent injuries i.e. paralyzes.

Morally, I don't know how you could even think about claiming, you may have the odd scar but who doesn't - you still have a life, be thankful.

We've just had to make an insurance claim for something I never thought or ever wanted to claim for, as I've said above just be thankful you're in one piece - you don't ponder for 1-2 years trying to decide whether it's worth claiming, if it's legitimate, you would have claimed at the point of injury.

If you think the above is harsh then I apologise, but I really think you need to step back and put things into perspective.

  5. I've had Stihl chainsaws in the past - load of ***p, leak oil (normal according to the service centre :hmm: ) constant carb problems and the stupid "no tools" chain tensioner was unreliable - give me a spanner any day :good:

Switched over to Husqvarna a few years ago, no problems so far, only the normal servicing required - starts whenever needed.

  6. I don't know about you but this year has been terrible - to cap it off I lost two very good friends the other week in a helicopter crash, devastated doesn't even come close to how I feel. It's still hard to believe, you're are talking to them one minute, the next thing you know they are no longer with us - it makes you think how vulnerable you can be in the air - if it can happen to the best heli pilots around it can happen to anyone.

I have them to thank for converting me from fixed wing to rotary and teaching me what I know today (its got me out of some sticky situations!) - such a waste of talent.

Anyway I've been thinking about this way too much lately and need cheering up in time for Christmas otherwise I'm going to be known as Scrooge!

    Do your best :good:

  7. They went bust a few years ago and were taken over by the Pentland Group and renamed Hunter Boots, part of the deal was that they kept the plant in Scotland so I'm unsure whats going on there.

The new owners decided to scrap all the **** fleeces/boots/socks/rucksacks etc which they did in return for the above, obviously didn’t work!

  8. I've had all three, I would rate them as follows:

    1: Plasma

    2: LED

    3: LCD

I just bought a Sony Bravia 40" LED (KDL40EX713) and its almost as good picture quality wise as the Plasma, fast moving objects are almost spot on, small bit of blurring (you don’t have this issue with plasma).

LCD screens on the other hand are or can be awful, fast moving objects blur and the overall picture quality is nowhere near LED or Plasma, I find the blacks are more a dark grey!
