  1. The difference blew me away. It was the same day, same stand, 15 mins apart. It was exactly the same for my shooting buddy. They were much faster, and there were never any "how did I miss that!!" moments. I just can't begin to explain the difference, it was like chalk and cheese.
  2. Getting married next weekend!!! I know, and as if that's not bad enough it means I can't go shooting all weekend!! However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have Monday off work (got to wait 2 weeks for the honeymoon), and want to go then instead. I live in Manchester, anyone know of a ground that allows practice birds on a monday. Somewhere between birmingham and newcastle will do, don't mid a bit of a drive!!
  3. Claybusters, eley first, eley blue, gamebore white gold XLR. The plastic wad I used were Fiocchi High Velocity 3. £140 per thou. Performance left the fibre carts above for dead!
  4. I have always used the cheapest I can get too. Didn't think it would make any difference. However, same shoot, same dtl stand, double the kills!! (for me and my buddy!) I was amazed!! Made me re-think my buying strategy!
  5. I shoot clays and recently used plastic wads for the first time. My scores doubled!! Granted I had been using cheap fibre wad carts but the difference in speed and accuracy was amazing!! I'm looking for a really good quality fibre wad cart, which acts just like a plastic wad cart. Want something fast, not bothered about recoil. What do you all recommend, any favourites?
  6. The comments above are very well informed.
  7. Anyone told you you look like ernie els??
  8. Interesting. Where did you source that fact? mmm..... good question, just a fact I picked up somewhere, god knows where. It's true though, the first shotguns were OU
  9. That's the plan. I just have to wait for the official 'no' so I can get in writing what his actual concerns are. Well I hope all goes well in the future and hope that soon you will get what you want. Never give up and keep ur head up. Cheers dude, if everything in life was easy it'd be boring!! thanks again x

  11. Yep, I guess your right. To be fair, if it's not a job I'd relish!! If I was the one signing the certificate off I'd cover my a// too!!
  12. Trust me there isn't. The FEO tol me tha it was simply policy to act on the cautious side in case where depression/anxiety is involved. period. Whats your age he could just be thinking that you are young and do stupid things. I wish!! A grand old 33!!

  14. Just because people suffer from or have suffered from depression does not mean they are out of control or potential mass murderers, and as a condition to which we are all vulnerable, (even rock hard emotionless tough guys) we should not stigmatise nor label any body that has had or does suffer from the condition or similar. A medical history of depression does not automatically exclude you from possessing a SGC/FAC, there are a thousand reasons for suffering depression and about as many variations of the condition. Thanks Davo, could't have put it better myself.
  15. the OU was actually the predecessor to the SS. The SS was designed AFTER the OU
  16. we are not legally alowed to load more than two cartridges into a gun here anyway, so we stay with tradition and use two barrels
  17. Again, for the record, the FEO requested and recieved the medical report BEFORE he arranged the home visit. When he'd seen the report and THEN arranged a visit I thought everything was OK. However, the first thing he said at the visit was that he didn't expect me to be granted a licence. I thought it strange that the application would get that far since he had the medical report first?!?!
  18. Just for the record I do not have, and have never suffered with, depression. Anxiety has very different symptoms to depression. I mentioned I would come off the meds because I'm ready to now anyway, the doctor has already begun reducing the dose down. However, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for all your advice everyone.
  19. Yeah, been doing that. He keeps threatening not to take me any more though, I beat him last week, he's been shooting for 15 years!!
  20. ah good, it's not a dead los then. I'll see what they say if they refuse. If they do I'll come off the pills. Seems a strange policy to me...... If you're on pills to control depression you can't have a licence If you come off the pills which are controling the depression then you can!! crazy!!
  21. I was recently dragged to a clay shoot with my father-in-law. I LOVED it!!! I promptly applied for my licence, wanted it QUICK!! Now, I have over the past few years suffered from anxiety in social situations. Nothing too bad, no time missed off work, no sucidal tendancies, nothing like that, just feeling uncomfortable in groups of people. Never depression, just anxiety. I have visted the doc for it, he put me on some pills which sorted me out. In the spirit of honesty I mentioned I mentioned it on my application. When the guy came to the house for the 'chat' he said there is very little chance ideed of me getting the licence because I mentioned the anxiety on the form. I'm gutted. It's a new hobby which I love. Any advice anyone? Surely there must be some people who have had similar issues and still got a licence. Are there any examles? If they do refuse (And the guy was pretty clear they would - he even gave me my photo's back!) what's the best way to appeal? thanks everyone
