I cant tell you about a spring length but I is indeed a Scottish made Milbro / Diana. I have exactly the same rifle purchased back in 1972, still using the same spring.
About1974 the piston needed a new leather seal and the local iron mongers broke it and replaced the whole piston, I found it to be relatively low powered and to be honest after shooting a smaller .177 until I got it (the Model 77) I found judging the loopy trajectory difficult and probably continued to shoot my .177 s much as I ever did?
That said I enjoyed it at the time and still have it after all these years!
I think Chambers may have some spares for them.

My Mrs and I are "opposites" in many ways, She was a vegetarian when I first met her (and mostly still is but eats a little fish from time to time on the advice of her Dr these days).
When we first hooked up I did a couple of our early Sunday lunches, so I would have been eating a roast + veggies and I'm being complimented on the roast potatoes. Well they should be good I say, they've been cooked to Delia Smiths recipe - I'm asked about and explain select the right type of potatoes (Maris Pipers) part boil them and then roast in the goose fat? I said the parsnips are much the same.
Goose Fat! Goose Fat? I haven't eaten animal products in over 20 years!!!! - yes you have you had the same two weeks ago? Light Blue Touch paper stand well back!
Still I got my own back after all the verbal abuse. Later on its Ice Cream Time - I tell her you cant touch that - gelatine - an animal product - she reached for a bar of chocolate - sorry you cant touch that - it contains "rennet" an animal product.

Geco produce some very good ammo especially for the price point.
some time ago, They changed what was Geco .22 in red/black boxes and I think this was a marketing ploy they seem to have altered the loading in Geco which used to be fine and very reliable in .22 semi-autos.
All of a sudden it was rubbish reliability and the velocity had lowered, fine in a bolt gun or single shot but not in an auto? Atmore or less the same time they introduced the Geco semi auto, which has slightly higher muzzle velocity.
I don't actually like the semi auto eco much too much like a lot of the cheap bulk pack American ammo.
I still use Geco plain black and red box -will not reliably cycle a semi auto but fine in a bolt rifle for a semi I prefer SK or RWS

Put this on an anvil/vice or something very solid and hit the end of it with a hammer, it will "bruise" the pin, this will create friction when put it in place this will then hold tight.
Or get another pin.

You sound like you come from close family and I send my condolences, "Mum's" are the hub of any family and set the tone and generally take care of pretty much most things.
I didn't know how we would cope without her when I lost my mum, but on the day of the funeral, I felt at peace knowing full well that she would not want any fuss and would really want us all to get on with our lives. I went from being a blubbering wreck to getting by!
My Uncle who was a pilot and flew spitfires I never met, but he sounded like an amazing character - died very young from a heart attack my mum used to hold up chocolate bars sideways on and he would shoot them cutting them in half (with an air rifle). They had been very close and I imagined as I looked skywards what, a re-union must be taking place (all mums siblings died before she did as she was the baby of the family), and after that I felt somewhat better as all the sadness and heartache seemed to be parked somewhere and although I miss her immensely, those thoughts and genuine belief that she would not wish any of us upset made me feel a whole lot better and able to cope with the worst thing ever!
I hope sharing this helps you because I REALLY do understand that Mums are totally priceless!

I do not know if they will supply you directly, however are based in Nottingham and are a business which separated away from Royal Ordnance Small Arms when they moved to Nottingham from Enfield. And then the Nottingham factory closed.

I have to say I think your perception of a UK gun shop is rather quaint and perhaps overstates the current state of play over here on this side of the pond!
I can actually think of one place that is as you suggest and that is Fulton’s of Bisley – I’ve actually seen a pith hat in there!
If you look at the UK today, I think you could probably separate our “Gun Shops” into maybe four or five types:
Some are old and Old skill & Service Based with the kind of pedigree that perhaps stems back to Victorian times.
Purdey, Boss, Rigby as examples.

I would say there are a growing number of gunsmiths that come from precision engineering backgrounds that are building fine precision and long range rifles.
There are a good many pretty ordinary shops you might find them selling agricultural equipment or equestrian equipment or fishing equipment that keep a few firearms and ammunition to serve the local community,
Sadly there are a growing number of newer gun shops who advertise like they are a supermarket, yet when you go to them they have very limited stock and want to sell to you from that.

For me my level would have to be 11/10, I have a saying, "if its got a trigger I'm gonna enjoy it". Started at 10 shooting .22LR prone with a club BSA 12/15, got an air rifle to shoot at home the same year and have never looked back, most of my good friend shoot and enjoy similar things including a love of the outdoors. Its about much more than just pulling the trigger, I shoot all kinds of shooting from airgun which has come back to the top of the pile to black powder to precision target shooting pest control and stalking. there Is always something going on, and there is always something to learn, it has provided me with great friends and experiences and frankly a big portion of my life?
It covers history, politics, Law, technology, its a significant challenge and requires your utmost attention and if you are bored with one aspect of it or with one thing, then look to something else. The day every shot is 100% accurate and there is no challenge I might get bored with it. In my life I moved home, changed women, changed jobs, changed cars and shooting has been the one constant thing in my life, a bad day in the field or at the range is always much better than a day at work. I don't get to shoot every day but I wish I could and take every opportunity that I can. In fact that's it I'm off. I'm going shooting!

There are also FWB 127's in Mk1 (Plastic Trigger) and Mk2 Metal Trigger, you probably need to ensure you get the newer type with a metal trigger as the plastic ones were prone to breaking after a while.
Like others I'm not sure one would command a £300 price tag but they are sought after by some people.

I generally shoot .177 I airguns, this pellet looks like the H&N "Silhouette" which was heavy .177 - not sure if they made them in .22 - they look tidy and uniform.
I believe the H&N Silhouette is now discontinued.

Following the enthusiastic discussion, about it I went to a meeting called "the Boinger Bash" primarily just for spring airguns and dusted off my Airsporter and HW77,
My first foray into airgun tuning was the1980s an like many others I fitted an OX spring to a Webley Hawk only to find it made it very harsh. This was a great disappointment along with the week long vibratory polishing of the piston in big industrial machine we used at work to polish breech blocks and sears and the like.
I had new PTFE seals and very carefully lubed with appropriate grease and oils so I found that a flop. 30 years on what a revelation these airgun buffs are not just tuning for power but more often for smoothness and to remove a twang.
Often they are having a sweet spot at about 11.3 - 11.5ft/lbs and will grind or linish coils off srings to achieve this or add in washers to achieve a perfect balance. Another more recent thing recent has been the addition of a well sized non metallic spring guide which helps quieten things and removes the twang.
Tinbum, not only does springs but a full kit of parts to service and tune including his lube. Was very helpful and posted mine here the next day.
Sadly its a bit of a downward slope - no variation required to buy another and a lot of fun, added an Original 45 I .20 to my couple of airguns and a BSA Mercury which I always wanted but could not afford at the time along with cars, bikes and now after a nice HW35E and a FWB sport both in .177 of course!
They had a strange wind flag at The Boinger bash - I would have sworn it was wind sock to start with

If you do the NRA probationary membership this is one of the questions they ask related specifically to 7.62 or .308 Winchester at approx. 30 degrees elevation they say a 7.62 / .308 will have max travel of 2,5mile or 4000m

Yes the HME thing is a PITA -I did my RCO years before that came out when our club organised one locally, however I had to go to Bisley to redo a HME course for that to be added to my Card. However I do believe they include it pretty much as standard if you do the course at Bisley these days.
