  1. We have had a brilliant week in the fog, rain, sun, and other **** the weather has dished out on us. Sunday Started off where we had 218 pigeons on a field of bean stubbles, that had a pheasant drive next door ,only the day before, (where 186 pheasants were shot.) Monday We decided to go after the foxes and I had a chance virtually straight away at the first farm, but missed it. Only 100 yards away and I was sure I had missed way to the right and put it down to probably snatching the trigger. We moved on to the 2nd farm and arrived at the stubble fields about 7.00pm . We got all the gear ready and flicked on the lamp.and there were 2 foxes running around the field like rabbits. Obviously the dog fox chasing the vixen for some "manly pleasure" lol. We tried everything to get them to stop. Calls, squeaks, shouts etc and they just didn't want to know. After half an hour they disappeared into a ditch and we drove on. We drove all round the fields and saw nothing, so drove back to the first one and as we passed an opening into the next field I spotted a fox about 150 yards out, standing broadside on to me. I took aim and dropped him dead on the spot. Upon retrieving the fox I was shocked that I had completely blew out his manhood and whole backside . I then commented that I was sure that my scope had been knocked or whatever and I was shooting too far to the lright, which probably explained my earlier miss. I clicked 3 clicks left and off we went again. We crossed the road and pulled into another field and on went the lamp. WELL, 3 sets of eyes greeted us and I took the one up by the hedgerow.Straight down it went. Flashed the field and another one was now 175+ yards away to my right. Number 2 on the deck. We sat there for a few minutes calling and now immediately to my left was another fox coming across the next field along at a right old canter. It came straight through the hedge and promptly stopped just short of the 1st one I had hit, He joined it . Then, literally 2 minutes later another fox coming from the same direction and through the hedge about 20 yards up. It was sniffing about and wouldn't stop still, so I barked out loud. Up it looked and I dropped that one too. Now i am buzzing with confidence and happy that my scope seemed to be back to spot on. Alan got out to retrieve the 3 nearby foxes and off I went up the field to get the far one. back at the jeep Alan had 1 vixen and 2 dogs. The first one I had shot was the vixen and we are now pretty sure the dog foxes had "got a whiff of her" and that was why they had come running. Can't keep a good man down. lol. 4 dead foxes in just over half an hour. Great result. We stopped for a coffee whilst lamping and calling and 2 more foxes had now entered the field. One was way up on the ridge by the wood and the other one in front of a spinney , in line with the farmhouse behind. These 2 were just grubbing about and would not respond to the calls and come further out for a safe shot. We tried for an hour and then left for home. Tuesday I was out on my own today and decided to try the linseed again. We very rarely hit the same fields twice, let alone three times but as the birds just aren't leaving the linseed alone it is a case of hit the fire whilst the irons hot. I set up alongside a hedgerow even though the birds were hitting the middle of the field and managed to pull a few away from the flock and had a nice steady day for 24 pigeons. http://www.youtube.c...ed/UR-Bkf1b050 24 x Pigeons Thursday We decided to try the linseed field again as on wednesday afternoon i had spotted that huge flock of pigeons hitting the field again. We left my house nice and early and when we got about 2 miles from the field we hit a pea-souper. The fog was that thick I couldn't see 50 yards in front of me. We slowly crawled along the lanes and into the field and it was thick with the fog. Our hearts sank a bit as we could only just see the front of the bonnet by now and sat having a coffee, debating what to do. A few minutes later we saw about a dozen pigeons fly past us, very low and then disappeared into the fog. Most shooters would have just turned round and gone home I'm sure, but we had packed all the flasks and snap and we were there. We waited for an hour and the fog had lifted slightly by now and we could see about 100 yards now, so we decided to set up.We put the magnet, flapper and deeks about 25 yards out from the hide and within minutes the pigeons were coming out of the woods and dropping in like bricks. It was phenomenal shooting and decoying for about 4 hours and then the fog had lifted and the birds were now flighting straight past us to the far end of the field and beyond. Funny how we sat there earlier cursing the fog and now begging for the fog to return. We packed up about 3.00pm and had shot 163 pigeons and picked up 152. The decoying was the best we had experienced in years and especially in a dense fog. The video shows the absolutely full crop of linseed the birds were carrying. Greedy ****. 163 x pigeons http://www.youtube.com/embed/sPASGfWdctc Friday 3 of us out today, and first call was the farmer in the cotswolds, to deliver the birds we had shot yesterday. On the way over there we spotted a few hundred pigeons on another bean stubble field and after doing the drop we drove back. There were about 2,000 pigeons banging into the field and flying high above the top woods on the hill. Alan decided to hit the woods and we drove over the bean stubble in Paul's jeep as it was very wet and muddy but with his gear on the truck we wouldn't have a problem. We set up and had 5 pigeons straight off and then ZILCH. The pigeons just didn't come back. We ended up with 8 and Alan had 7 .Oh well, you must take the rough with the smooth. 15 x pigeons Saturday The boys were out beating today so again I was out on my own. I went drive-abouts for a couple of hours and the only birds I spotted was on the linseed again. I went for it again and the sport was again steady all afternoon with no lull whatsoever. I had to leave early and ended up shooting 59 x Pigeons Sunday I met up with the boys and we drove back to the bean fields and there was about 1,500 pigeons hitting the top field now and we set up in front of a group of tall trees. The pigeons were suicidal for a while and then we noticed the bulk were flighting way over to the wood on the hill and down onto the bottom field where we had shot 15 earlier on this week. I stayed put and the others split up to see if they could keep the birds on the move. It worked a treat as i was shooting steady and I could hear banging form different places where they had gone. We picked up and had shot 139 pigeons, picked up 128. For the last hour we popped down to another farm for a reccy and I got the proverbial magpie. 139 x Pigeons 1 x Magpie Top week and a lot of varied shooting in all sorts of weather. Knowing the bad weather is yet to come. Total 618 x Pigeons 1 X Magpie 5 x foxes Dave K
