Hi folks Having "helped out" at my local shoot for several years I've decided that i want get round to getting myself properly qualified as a shooting instructor and i'm trying to choose between the courses offered between the CPSA and BASC. I wondered if anyone that has taken these courses could comment on the two courses (CPSA Instructor Training Course & BASC Shotgun Coach) I'm wishing to be qualified to instruct on basic shotgun skills to novices and taking them thorough to being safe shots with their first gun - I have no interest in taking this on to performance coaching as competition has no interest for me. I would like to think that whichever organisations course i attend it will largely a validation of skills i have already however I hope that there will be something for me to learn in either course ! In terms of prequisites I am a member of both organisations already; While the BASC course is slightly more than the CPSA (£725 instead of £695), if i do the BASC route I would need to do the BASC Safety Officers course (i have the CPSA SO qualification and they are not transferable, on the other hand if i go the CPSA route i would have to do another Instructor development workshop ) so costs are nearly the same! Typically people at our ground go the CPSA route although on recent discussions regarding the course it sounded as if you had to teach your lesson by rote and I'm wondering if the BASC course might" fit " me better.
