Once again it was a meet up while it was still dark then across the field we went.
Got the gear out of the vans and then while the hides were set up the decoys were put out.
Getting to be a precision routine with every one knowing there job.
We moved the vans and were settled down waiting at 0700.
It was very foggy but we could hear the geese and knew some were flying.
The first skein came out of the fog and took us by suprise at 0730.
For the next couple of hours we called in the geese out of the fog that kept partially lifting.
We had some great shooting and were just talking of packing up.
We then saw a police officer walking towards us about 100 yds away.
I gave him a wave and he waved back and my mate went to chat with him.
Apparently a guy had phoned the police saying we had been shooting from 0700.
We never shot the first goose till 0730 and the police officer was told this.
He did a few checks of shotgun licences took names and addresses.
Then he rang the farmer and was told everything was above board.
The police officer said he would go and have a word with the complainer and tell him everything was legal.
He also said he would point out it would be a waste of police time if he called in again.
A nice officer to talk to and he admitted he did not know much about firearms law.
So as it was now 0930 we decided to call it a session with a total of 30 geese.
I think you can tell how the fog lingered in the photo.
A good morning out with good mates.
