When I decided to redo a stock a few years back I was recommended to use Tru oil. It worked well but very shiny, almost like a varnished stock, I was looking for a more traditional oil finish and tried wool to tone it down though it never really had that oiled look. Recently I did another stock and was recommended to try Trade secrets, it really does give that traditional oiled look and you can regulate how shiny you get the stock. Trade secrets is also very easy to use.
