  1. Hi folks Our last two ventures were a bit hit and miss Saturday I popped out for a reccy in preparation for Sunday. I drove round "clocking" numerous farms in the morning and only spotted a few pigeons on the linseed and a fair amount of corvids on the maize stubbles. I set up on the linseed for an hour and half as the forecast was rain about midday. A couple of bangs later and the bulk of the pigeons just flew off. I ended up with 11 just before the rain started. 11 x pigeons 1 x magpie Sunday We were out and about early morning after the rain finally stopped and drove very precariously onto the edge of the field and went straight to the spot we had decided to set up on.It was very very boggy and wet but the birds were flighting about. Crow shooting video [media] [media] Myself and Alan on the corvids and Alex on the pigeons. The wind was very strong and cold, but we started shooting almost straight away and there was some very fast and hard birds flying into the decoys and past them at high speeds. Ended up shooting 58 x crows and 34 x pigeons. Wednesday After a couple of fairly dry days we decided to go lamping and was only going to go to farms with hard tracks only. No driving on grass or stubbles. It was a full moon and very bright everywhere. We weren't holding out too much hope but you never know. We went to a farm we last visited a few weeks ago and I had shot one coming out of the wood. We parked up and started to call and after 15 minutes on went the lamp glove, as it was a bitterly cold wind blowing and the lamping hand felt it straight away. We sat having a coffee whilst squeaking and then a fox appeared coming down out of the wood. He then sat down looking at us and I jumped out of the jeep and dropped the rifle onto the bonnet. He was still a long way off approx 250-300yards and wouldn't come any closer. He just sat still, looking around.I nodded to Alan to hit the lamp and took the shot. Down he dropped on the spot. I was just getting back into the jeep to warm up and alan knocks the window to tell me another was coming out of the wood. I jumped back out and started to call. This one came right down the field and stopped about 90 yards away. Down went this one too. I now gets back in the jeep for another coffee and literally 2-3 minutes later a 3rd fox is coming out of the woods to our right. Out I got again and it was almost a repeat of the first one. Came, stopped and sat down looking. I took aim and fired and saw it drop. Wowwwwwwwww. 3 x foxes in less than 10 minutes. I went and paced the very far 2 and alan got the near one. My paced 2 were 246yards and 281yards. The furthest 2 I have had that quick together, ever. The 3rd was 87 yards and was a vixen. Mine were both dogs.I am now buzzing and off we go to another farm to try our luck. We spent 2 hours on there but spotted nothing. So it was time for home. . Dave K
