  1. hi all went up to bisley pipe range last Friday after a short notice call from a mate . so I quickly loaded some 58gr Vmax rounds for the first time and 40 mins later we were on the way to pipe range only had it booked for 1.5 hours so cold gun straight from bag and first time using the 58gr Vmax the result is first picture the second picture is my mates .308 ......... the lower 3 in the 9 ring are his and the 3 bulls are mine again with his .308 now I must point out that the target you see is the laptop at the shooters end of the range to show where you are hitting the target 100 meters down range . when we were there the target was shot out .... by that I mean the target you aimed / shot at did not have a clear point to aim at just a white background with a black splodge in the centre where you had to guess where the bull centre was [we did complain and were told that it should have been changed before we started but hey had not had time to do so ] . so I was more than happy with the results considering the condition of the target we had to look at threw the scopes
  2. For the last couple of months I have been working on a few loads using the newly imported Ramshot Hunter. I was lucky enough to have got in touch with Chris (Fister) before the PW rifle meet and he kindly brought me 4Ib of the stuff so that I could start my experimenting. I first of all worked on a fox round and used the Sierra 70 gr Blitz King which I have now got down to a regular 1/2" group and have used it to good effect on Charlie. I was out yesterday and today working on a load for the Sierra 100gr Pro Hunter in .243. Yesterday I found I had two areas that I wanted to look at. The Min - Max from the manuals were 39.1 to 44.1 so I used 40 to 44 in 1 grain increments to see if I could get an indication on the area's that might work for my rifle. I ended up with two sweet spots at 41 gr and 44 gr so I concentrated on the 41gr working back to 40.6, 40.8 41.2, and 41.4. As you can see by the pic above, the sweet spot is better between the first two loads ( 4 round groups) so I have now readied a second test using 40.6, 40.7, 40.8 and 40.9 just to confirm and see if it is possible to tighten it up a wee bit more. I also did a 3 round check group on the 44 gr and as you can see buy the pic below it was as the test the previous day and again gave a 1/2" group. I am also going to test using 43.8, 43.9, 44, 44.1 just to see how things go. I know most people would be happy with some of the results (especially for hunting) and generally I am, but I just love to tinker and try to get the best I can out of my loads. I am very impressed with RS Hunter and will soon be experimenting with a heavier calibre using it.
