  1. Hi all, thought you might be interested about my decoying trip yesterday.Ide been keeping my eye on a 10 acre field of rye stubble for about a week or so,.as local stubbles gradually got ploughed up ,it started to draw more and more birds ,untill about 300-600 were showing an interest. So having seen the forecast (gale force winds/odd heavy shower) Tuesday looked good.I arrived at the field about 9ish,several birds were already feeding with a steady stream of new arrivals. As I was weighing up where to go the farmer arrived to begin hedge cutting. After a brief chat he kindly agreed to leave the hedge I now decided to set up in untill last thing, probably about 5ish. At this point I should explain that this field is roughly square in shape, but has a road and houses on two sides and a village on a third.Although I know the owner in one house ,the other had been bought by a person unknown to me.However the farmer had told me that this chap had called the police out on him one night whilst bunny bashing from his 4x4.To make matters worse there were several outbuildings on this chaps property that he let out to small businesses.Due to the direction of the wind it was obvious that these folk were going to hear every shot .There was only one thing to do,go see him and explain the situation and hope that he would be reasonable. As it turned out ,he was as good as gold ,thanking me for showing him the courtesy of notifying him. Upon returning to the field I wasted no time getting started (now about 10.15).A couple of Hypa-Flaps out on long stem cradles and that was me done.5hrs and 326 shots later it was all over.though not my best average ever,it had been fantastic sport in the gale force wind.Final pick up saw 223 woodies 1magpie and1 carrion crow in the bag.on the way home I popped in to the guy from earlier and offered him some birds,he declined untill I offered to breast some out for him. With that he seemed quite excited and very grateful. So today I dropped off 12 breasts to him just to try, with a promise of more if he likes them. Also dropped off 40 more to the other house hold as I know they love em. So a result all round, and the moral of the story? KEEP THE NEIGHBOURS HAPPY
