JRS Posted September 29, 2009 Report Share Posted September 29, 2009 right i have been fermenting sloes this year , i have used port wine yeast to increase the alchohol conntent and there is enough for 5 gallons , i have added 3 kilo's of sugar and the solution is very thick and i mean thick ,i added sugar and just coverd the sloes with water and i am wondering if it may need some more water or would you just leave it and let the fermentation complete and hope it goes thinner, next i have to send the wife shopping for 5 gallons of gin and vodka because i dont want to appear to have a drink problem the smell is superb and cant wait for it to be finnished thanks guys Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The alcoholic strength will kill off the yeast, and, after six months it ought to be ready to filter off.
