I did similar with what was then British coal about an old pit site that is crawling with rabbits and hares. I told them about BASC insurance etc and the reply was:

Thank you for your email. It is the policy of British Coal not to allow any shooting of any sort on its property in case the shooter injures someone who is not meant to be there.

nobheads or what?

In this particular case I was somewhat aided by the fact the Farmer who runs the set aside land is a very keen sport shooter. This was also aided by the management position within Southern Water had been filled by a new and younger gentlemen who was concerned with the number of complaints the neighbour (my landowner) had made. Though I left an open invitation to control other land wiuth similar problems, I have yet to hear from them.

Though I have been fruitful in my attempt, I can understand these companies taking the stance that they do, with regard to shooting. I have a yearly contract with Southern Water that is pretty specific. It doesnt hurt to remind them of the law, particluarly if the uncontrolled rabbits are causing a nuiscence.
