my workmate and shooting buddy Bill decided flying a big kite in high wind was a good idea. it wasnt! it doesnt look much in the video but he dislocated and broke his shoulder. he spent 5 hours in theatre having it pinned and vows never to fly a kite again. the laughter on the clip is camera man and kite owner chev, also a shooting buddy and pigeonwatch user. on the plus side, Bills s410 is coming to live with me for a few weeks, so every grey cloud etc  don't laugh :good:

It's surprising how severe an injury you can pick up when flying a kite on even relatively low winds. I had to give up power kiting and buggy racing for exactly the same reason over a year ago! I was just "having fun" with my racing buggy and a 5 meter kite on our local football pitches when a freak gust of wind caught me in the middle of a power turn. I ended up flying through the air for about 10 yards with the buggy going air bourn and landing on top of me cracking my crash helmet and rendering me unconcious. The first thing that I can remember was a bloke who had been out walking his dog picking the buggy off me and asking "Are you dead?" I cracked 5 ribs and tore all of the muscles and ligaments in my left arm and shoulder which still leaves me with some pain and a general weakness in my left hand side which is why I can now only hold a rifle on aim for about 10 seconds top whack!

The wife thinks it might have also knocked some sense in to me, I'm not sure about that one but it didn't half bl**dy hurt!

Hope your mate is OK!
