chewy0013
Hi all, Thanks to farmboy99 I have got myself a very nice little project to keep me busy, tuning and repairing a HW77. What do people think in relation to the Venom and V-mach tuning kits for this rifle? I have seen the V-mach kit on BAR website for about 70, is that a fair price? Does anyone know where you can get the venom kits from? Any information in relation to this rifle would be hugely apprciated! Many thanks Stuart

chewy0013
Hi, mate yea its going well so far, managed to strip the stock back to orginal wood last night, it looks like someone did a rubish job of striping it and then varnished over the top. Looks amazing, just gone over it with some white spirt and has really nice grain pattern. Going to get some beech stain and then wax and polish it to get the shine back. Also had a look at the trigger and there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the trigger itself, the anti-bear trap is missing though. For the hw77 its in 3 parts(big bit, little bit and spring) and correct me if im wrong but i think the smaller bit resets the trigger after each shot. At the moment when you take the safty off it shoots! Once i've stained it I'll up load some pics. ATB Stuart
njc110381
I'm pretty sure that the chap who makes the V-Mach kits (Steve Pope) used to work for Venom. I'm also pretty sure that Venom no longer exist so you will struggle to find one of their kits. You can get tuning kits from Chambers too but I'm not sure if they're as good. I'd shove a V-mach kit in it. That's what I plan to do with the 80 I just bought.

chewy0013
I've just had a look at the chambers kits and I think thats whats in it at the moment the kit that has the nylon piston head and the standard mainspring they do. I won't be getting another one to be honest, the piston head is loose and the spring sounds horrible. To be fair it looks like its been in there for ages, but i think im going to put the V-mach kit in it. Does anyone know about the bear trap i these? I'm still going to take the trigger to a gunsmith but just wondered if that was the problem. Does anyone know a good gunsmith near bristol? Cheers for the support guys! Also for anyone who is interested in restaining their stocks I've just used Colron refined Beeswax Peruvian Mahogany, its has a beautiful finish on the beech stock. Only problem i guess is that it comes up very light so you will have to do numerous coats to get a darker colour and it takes 2 hours to dry and you need to do a really good job of polishing it. So time consuming but worth it, I'm only on the third coat!
