jwb
Hi to all Just ordered a Tikka T3 in Stainless Steel (heavy barrel varmint model) Will be used for Roe and target. I still have time to cancel it, all comments would be appreciated. I’ve just come across this forum and I must say I will coming back to it. Big Dog
Tikka T3 in Stainless Steel in .222 is what I think I am going for. I wanted a heavy barrel as I may want to shoot targets. I have gone off the idea as I picked up a similar gun and with the bi-pod and moderator on it it was very unpleasant to carry even for a short distance. I felt it would get batter over gates etc. For all the target I am going to shoot I feel the Hunter model will be better for my use. It depends on the amont of target V Roe?? No doubt about it the HB will give you a much more stable gun able to put more rounds off. Some of the other guys will give you 1st hand experience but for me think of the distance you need to carry the and other bit and bobs, dead Roe etc. Hope you get it clear in your mind and enjoy the gun
jwb
Cheers Big Dog I forgot to mention its in .243. I have a T3 Tactical in .308 which i consider to be very good. But I was'nt too sure on the T3 SS in .243 I wondered if the heavy barrel might be a pain to carry round? James
Big Dog
My gun dealer had a heavy and change it to a hunting style. He doesn't shoot targets though, but for me I know what I will go for.
Dunkield
Cheers Big Dog I forgot to mention its in .243. I have a T3 Tactical in .308 which i consider to be very good. But I was'nt too sure on the T3 SS in .243 I wondered if the heavy barrel might be a pain to carry round? James It will be heavy, but then it won't drift off after 3-4 shots. I have a Tikka M695 stainless laminate in 6.5x55 and that isn't too heavy (even lighter now it has an ABS stock) but isn't much good on range days as it gets too hot to soon - especially in the summer. If you want to know what drifting looks like I will dig out the group I shot on a hot day, 5 shots in quick succession
jwb
Cheers Yea I'd like to see that (If you want to know what drifting looks like I will dig out the group I shot on a hot day, 5 shots in quick succession) I will do more target than Roe james
Dunkield
I was afraid you were going to say that As I am too lazy to copy and paste it, he is a link to follow. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/sha...ng/Tikka695.jpg The shots went from right to left, I have a 5 shot mag, so they were one after the other in quick (ish) succession If you are doing more target work the heavy barrel will be fine, just a pin on long stalks. I have to carry mine up mountains in Scotland and it is hard enough getting up them let alone dragging a heavy gun as well :*) I would try and see if there are any M695's left anywhere, there are like rocking horse **** now but I did see someone buying a new one at the Midland Game Fair last month, so there is the odd one or two about.
