Colster
Thanks for a great days ferreting mate. Bleeh (Andrew) contacted me via PW after my poor week's shooting last week and offered his nets and ferrets for a days bunny bashing. We met up yesterday and headed over to a 12acre field that I have permission on and started off with a quick reccy. His two ferrets, Himmler and Goebels worked like troopers all day and as the warrens are so big and well established, the rabbits led them a merry dance underground with only a few bolting into the waiting arms of our 12 bores. My first shot at a bolter sent it skittering across the ground but I have to be honest and say that I missed everything after that. We ended the day with 6 bunnies and two very tired ferrets as I think the bulk of the rabbits were able to just avoid the ferrets and stay underground while the ferrets chased and chased. Half the rabbits we got had to be dug out and I tried to get a picture of Bleeh in what was to become his customary position for the day: with his head 4 foot underground, waving his legs in the air but as I was about to take the shot (seems I'm just as bad with a camera as I am with a shotgun), he got hold of the rabbit and yanked it into the daylight. Thanks again mate, we'll have to fix up to do it again soon.
