Ishapoor
Heres something worth mentioning-they do indeed do repairs-at a fixed rate of £275 for my area even if it was just a micro switch that needed replacing. Help!
myzeneye
so ...... have you checked the push rod in the divertor and the micro switch yet...........? its easy stuff mate.... dont be afraid turn on tap, can you see the rod move out and hit the switch..........? if not its the diaphragm.... dont be alarmed, ill talk you through changing it.......to confirm it, turn on the tap and manually press the mico switch with the end of a screw diver...the boiler should fire up... if it does move out and hit the switch when you turn on the tap, you need to check the switch itself by shorting it out........ come on mate...you asked...i told you..... now come back with a result.......... busterboiler
Dear All I'm having a slight problem with my boiler at home, and having had an extremely unfortunate experience with 'Pimlico Plumbers' here in London, I was after some savvy advice regarding the above. Basically the combi works fine with regards to heating, but it's started being funny about firing for the hot water... Hopefully those in the know will know what I'm on about. Essentially it's trying to fire up to get the job done, but takes several goes/generally have to switch the boiler off then on again and repeat until it fires properly. I have a feeling that the problem was solved by fitting some rather simple switch eighteen months back, but not 100%. I just dont want another muppet turning up immediately saying that i need a new boiler (this unit is NOT that old) without even looking at it, so would very much appreciate some advice! Cheers Sounds like the diverter valve, or actuator to diverter

Ishapoor
Thanks for the input Magman. Myzeneye, it seems as though that rod set up is (rather bizarrely!) hidden behind some tiles in the kitchen, but Martin was good enough to recommend a bloke near me, so I'm trying to get in touch. It has to be said that I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to things DIY so would be much happier having a pro take a look... If not I'll set to with the hammer and see what we can see!
