fieldwanderer
Well, the last update was all worry and questions but things have changed quite a lot. Daisy turned one at the start of the month, I now have a good book on training spaniels and I've found the one method that works (not in book) daisy doesn't get the ball unless she does right/behaves. Our training sessions are massively more enjoyable now. She retrieves and comes reliably, quaters with help and responds very well to the whistle and is much more obedient than I've ever known her to be! She always cowered when I had a gun and I had real problems making any improvement, eventually I decided to take a risk and took her shooting to show her guns are fun and thankfuly it paid off!! So, generally, I'm over the moon! She's still got a lot to learn but I'm pleased to see I'm finally getting somewhere. Thanks for all the help guys. mart46
This is a great update. I've been following the story of Daisy as I was sorely tempted to take her as the previous owner was only a few miles from me. I'm glad that you've got her and that things have turned out good. Look forward to hearing more. Mart
fieldwanderer
Ooh, a quick question! How do I get her to stop / sit while she's running about? She'll sit every time when she's close to me but if I give the sit command when she's away from me she comes to me and sits! Any suggestions? Drop is a work in progress too, she'll only do it when I move my finger from eye level to the ground right in front of her, any suggestions how I get her to drop on command no matter where she is in relation to me?
