fortune82
Im looking to buy a sidelock sxs and came across a nice looking Gunmark Sabel Crown. I have read that these were made by arrietta of Spain. Does anyone know if these guns are hand made? Also the barrels are brown rather than the normal blue or back. Is this the normal finish on these guns? Does anyone know of any particular faults to look out for on these guns and roughly when they were made? Thanks for any help! triumphant59
Most Sabels were made for Gunmark by Pedro Gorosabel, usually the serial number begins with PG. An Arrieta made gun will be marked A C. Not sure about the brown barrels, my guess is that they were blue and have discoloured over the years. Ive a Gunmark Sabel and now I know its made by Pedro! Out of interest to the original poster, my barrels are black and original. Mine was made in 72. So, i wonder how old the one you are looking at is...
triumphant59
Spanish guns are date stamped from 1955 (A1) to 1980 (Z1) from 1981 A2 to 1998 Q2 then 1999 is 99 2000 00 and so on.
