Dilemma on the way forward...

I'm in a bit of a quandry right now. I've moved out of my last place amongst 16 acres of rabbit infested paddock and moved to the middle of town (well, almost).

 

The thing is, I'm now thinking that the air rifle is not a good thing to have any more. I have no land to shoot on and it's just taking up space by the fire. It's also not the best thing for all the sorts of thing that I see round here. There's lots of farmland around, but it's all open and there does not mseem to be that much in the way of rabbits apart from the meadow near the station (bloody hundreds of them and no way of getting near them with a rifle).

 

So, I'm thinking of putting the rifle up for sale and applying for a shotgun license. The local police seem to be ok with the idea and I reckon that I can get some land to do either rough shooting or decoying, but I am stuck as to what to buy.

 

Help me out please. It's got to be a 12 bore and over & under (I prefer the balance to a side by side which feels a bit wrong) and suitable for just about every type of shooting you can do (except deer). Something multi-choke would be nice, but I reckon it'll be a bit out of my price range.

 

Speaking of price ranges, I reckon I should be able to get about 400 notes or so for the rifle, so that's your range. I figure that the cost of the license will come out of that too, so knock of a bit for that.

 

It's going the be a bit of a struggle selling the rifle, but I really can't see myself using it much and I reckon that I'll get more effective use out of a shotgun in a field with a hide a load of decoys.

 

Am I doing the right thing? Should I do the dirty on the rifle and sell her, or should I keep her and start saving up for something as well?
