Guest cookoff013
use the steel for ducks and the powershot for geese. alliant 381 and alliant steel are supposed to be interchangable. but i have no reference for that. so dont do it. i wouldnt. i`ve got a 32g load in a 3" case and it does travel 1550fps. there is some 1oz loads travelling very fast, i`d recomend these for ducks, its about 45grains of powder, steel wad and 1oz steel. i`ll dig out some info. dont be too concerend by the lower weight payload, steel has a goos shotcount per oz. if you want to shoot big and heavy steel loads get big shot, if you want to shoot superfast light loads, get smaller shot.4`s are good at 1900fps ! powershot should be launched at 1500fps max. its density is the key to its success. whereas steel needs to be fast. UK fowler
Ashley you may find thoughs pattern driver wads a bit long to get in a 3"hull with a crimp finish and 381 the LBC 43 is a shorter wad do have a load for that.are the wads CGR 3"pattern drivers ? Guest cookoff013
yes they are the 3" multimetal wads. thats the problem with old generation steel loads, they are geared up for large payloads, limiting the powder space, when we should have medium to light payloads, and enough room for lots of slow burning powder. steel needs to move ******* fast ! Guest cookoff013
iss that because the gordon recoil system takes a good thunping and deforms? if thats your problem, buy the 3.5" cheddite hulls and cut them down, high capacity and customisable crimp!
