Is this unusual??

Recommended Posts

I work in a meduim secure hospital. It has a 16ft fence around it. We oftern have a pair of partridge fly in and out first thing in a morning. Well today I saw one of them with 14 chicks!! Is that an extremley large brood? She must have had a nest secreted away in the boundaries of the fence. I'm hoping our fence will keep out most of the predators, except any raptors etc.

Its a good brood but have seen alot bigger ,is it a french patridge or english ? if its english they will stand a better chance as they look after there young unlike the french . Watched a french patridge last year with 11 young crossing a road she got to the other side first and in staed of calling them across she just carried on i follwed her and she just kept on walking leaving her young to there fait ,which in to end was man in car
