You Can’t Beat a Good Graft

I have had this style of digging graft for many years; one of them is quite a bit heaver, which I use to bust through big roots and on very stony ground.

The graft in the pictures I made for a friend I picked up two at a boot sale for a £2.00 and as you cant buy then in the shops or on line like this, the only way is to pick up the tools and put down the credit card……….

Originally, the shaft was fibreglass that took quite a bit off removing; I found a long series drill did the trick.

The new steel shaft was fashioned to fit in side the graft head and welded in place, and a tee handle to suit.

The finished length is 48 inches, I have found over the years that the long shafts save my back, as I am not bent over at the start of the dig, also you do not run out of handle if it is a deep dig.

I is nice not to dig, but a hazard of the sport, I have seen all types of digging tools over the years, but stick with what I have.
