this proberly has been asked a million times before so please bear with me.

Just got a pajero to replace my old truk for lamping. I'd made a board for my old truk to go out the sunroof when needed but want to fix this lot through the roof. been hand lamping but keep blowing fuses in the cigar bit. so i want to wire it straight to the battery will this stop the plug melting? and where to start any help please.

do i get rid of the cigar fitting on the lamp?

We always had trouble with the cigar lighter so we changed the plug for a smaller jack plug like the ones on tractors, we wired straight to the battery with an inline fuse and fitted a female end to the truck. It cured all the problems.

why change to a lower bulb, bit daft that and pointless of having a good lamp.

run live from battery and pick up an earth on the way to the dash. use a marine plug and socket. just make sure you use a high enough amp wire.

the pajero's cigar wiring is pants at best.

Phil.

We get ours from agricultral shops, tractors sales service and repair places, cost less than a tenner for both ends.

We are still running a 100 watt bulb aswell.
