Hello chaps,

Is there anyone on this forum that either does or can recommend someone who does gun metalwork refurbishing i.e. tidying up actions that have light pitting, barrel re-bluing, general gun metal work?

My Dad has an AYA No. 3 hammer gun which is in good general condition but the action is showing slight signs of surface pitting/rust and could do with a surface strip/polish. Also the bluing on the barrels has worn through above the forend.

Ideally after someone who does private jobs who doesn’t necessarily charge ‘shop’ prices to cover their overheads :good:

I entrust all my gunsmithing metalwork to Ladbroke & Langton just outside Radlett, Herts (as do many top gunshops) their number is 01923 854639.

Thanks Philr, I will pass this info onto my Dad.

We are basically looking for the equivalent of Straightshooter (Wood God) but with gun metal work. Someone who has maybe done work for the trade but has a passion for metal and is happy to offer their services to us here on the forum.

I have a couple of guns with minor metalwork bits that I would ideally like to get sorted but I want to find someone who would treat the guns as if they were there own and not just another customer walking through the door :P:good:

I have recently had a couple of bad experiences with a particular gunsmith to which I was very unhappy with their standard of work and I suppose it a case of 'once bitten, twice shy'. Maybe I was just unfortunate :good: Straightshooter is now rectifying the damage to which I'm excited to see the results :P
