jacksdad Posted October 26, 2010 Report Share Posted October 26, 2010 I got my butcher to do me some hang venison, when it arrived I thought he had gone too far...it STANK! He told me to give it a damn good rinsing then slow roast it, which I did, the smell of rotten flesh was soon replaced by a wonderful rich meaty smell, and it was the best! Wouldn't fancy it done rare, Mind As long as the beef has been kept in the fridge ie at the correct aging temperature, it will be perfect after a couple of weeks just rinse off any blood as that does go bad! Supersonic Posted October 26, 2010 Report Share Posted October 26, 2010 FACT: Supermarket steak is good for 30 days after the sell by date. the secret is to catch it between the 'brown' stage and the 'oily rainbow' stage where it has gone a bit too far for most.
