had a brilliant morning. 67 birds all flighting, no decoys. some real cracking high shots. Then the rain came down in sheets and stopped play. pity, I am sure I would have made a ton easy, but it was pretty miserable so I stopped. I am going to try them sgain later in the week. The snow has melted here and the birds are taking advantage by moving quickly back onto unploughed stubble. I guess that's because the protein content is higher? I have been watching an uncut field. I saw one flock this morning in the distance which I reckon had at least 5000 birds in it. Don't know where they have came from, but we have some serious amount of pigeons about here at the minute. the local veg farmers a hopping mad. hope everyone else had a good boxing day shoot.

I picked up 56 today flighting into a field of uncut wheat. took the cocker pup with me. He had a ball. Got a photo of the birds this time so I will try to posting it later. they were not interested in the decoys at all. I think I had about half a dozens really commit to them all day. Still the shooting was good under the flightline. Started at 10.30 and finished just after 1. Rain had started and I didnt want to get soaked. Back at work on Tuesday, so that me until next Saturday. Might take a day after the wood cock or the duck now that the ban is lifted and give the pigeons a rest.
