webber
As has now become the norm, I parked outside the home of Doc Savage, and joined him for an excellent breakfast. Doc wished me happy birthday and showed me a special cake that he had commissioned to celebrate the occasion at the shoot. He advised me that it had been soaking in brandy for about a month. A quick slice soon proved that he wasn't joking. We downed another of Docs unique breakfasts and made our way out to my car, taking care not to slip on the road. I started the car engine, but then found that I couldn't get the gear shifter out of park. Damn, this is a reocurrance of a fault from almost a year ago; its not a quick fix. We therefore abandoned the Rangie and transferred all of our gear into Docs VW Toureg. We made our way to the shoot via the cash mahine as I had forgot my wallet. We turned off a dual carriage way and onto the final approach road for the shoot, almost there, and Doc calmly announces that he has lost control! I'm sat there also calmly thinking he's showing off as to how well this thing handles, as a hedge got ever closer I realised that he wasn't joking, and we were in a bit of a fix. Doc soon had the car under control again and we completed the remainder of the journey at a more sedate pace. Doc did make a request for replacement underwear; I advised him that had we been in the Rangie I could have probably obliged. He managed all day without, but walked a little like John Wayne, but there was no odor, probably due to the cold. It wasn't easy getting aroud the shoot, the 4x4 certainly came into their own. I shot slightly less well than usual, a pity really as I was hoping to excell on my birthday, but I still managed 10, so not too bad; the final bag was 114. I got a lift off another gun back to keepers cottage, a short while later Doc arrive and asked me to inspect his windscreen. It transpired that a pheasant, none to happy about being shot in the final moments of the last drive, had decided to plant itsself into the windscreen as some kind of mascot. As we made our way back to Docs we started to revise our plans for shooting over the break, as neither of us now had a servicable car. This morning young webber and I recovered the Rangie back to our works. I was surprised to be handed the keys to a Shogun, so I'm not wheelless afterall; so Doc, the games back on.
