pete1dart
There were alot around last week but i expect that alot were on the moon all night. It looked from where we were that alot were coming off and either going down the Nith or over the reserve. They then swung round towards Browell but along way inland and were pitching into a field behind our position. They were like this all day. Lady Hall also seemed to have alot of geese going through with a few shots down that end. Not sure how high they were as we were a good few miles down the coast. I only seem to go up the reserve end, although we didnt have any luck up there last week, I have had some good mornings there. I wasnt expecting much last week as the weather and moon did not want to play along with us. Try browell or Lady Hall. They can sometimes produce an od shot or 2. Im not sure how much the charge is at Lady Hall? And not sure on how many places there are to shoot any more as I havnt been there for a couple of years. I did hear that the tide had washed quite a few places away. I also think it depends on where the geese are coming into roost and where they are feeding that dictates where they will fly that morning or evening. Im no expert but have been trying to pick up tips when I am up there. Weather I have also found can scupper things. It can either work for or against you. I have had a large skein at Lady Hall coming straight towards me but then just slid on the wind while still over the sand. This happened 3 times that morning. Very frustrating! pete1dart
Also forgot to add. I take it your going up with someone else? It is also worth having a drive around in the day to try and find where the geese are feeding. This can sometimes help. A guide is also another good way to improve your chances as I have found that local knowledge goes along way. That is if you agree with what they are doing? tomaddy525
Thankyou for your reply. I have shot on Browwell for the last 3 years, one week each year in october, for only 4 geese, i was just wondering if there was anywhere that I could get to for free down towards Powfoot/Preistside?
