First Saturday roost shooting

Well during the past week on here we seemed to be getting a big build up to the first Saturdays roost shooting after the game season, with one or two getting excited about it.

So how did we all get on was it a success or a big flop?.

Only 3 of us turned out on our syndicate shoot, (obviously the weather put a few people off) so I wasnt expecting it to be too good as the normal rule for roost shooting is to have guns out in every bit of woodland to keep the birds on the move.

However it didnt turn out to be too bad for me 26 from 32 cartridges :D

Its got me thinking is it better to only have a few people out that know what their doing, rather than a load of **** heads out there shooting at birds that are miles to high frightening the life out of them before they have any intensions of going to roost. :hmm:

Haha, Just come back for a quick go in the wind. I decided to give simply waiting for them to land a miss, and placed myself between the woodland, and a hedgerow, facing the wind.

The result where pigeons flying at you either like driven partridge with rockets up their bums, or pigeons that come out of no where and take you by surpise.

The few I managed to hit where increadibly satisfying - with a 35 yard pigeon in the gust falling about 60 yards.

The one annoying thing I will say is that this permission has about 1500 pigeons on it - but in massive flocks of about 200 - 1,000.
