tx4cabbie Posted March 18, 2011 Report Share Posted March 18, 2011 I'm a clay shooter and occasional bunny basher from hornchurch (south essex/east london) and would like to branch out into pigeon/rough shooting. I and some friends were night shooting on some land near Aveley, and up near Maldon, but one permission was lost due to the council wanting a risk assessment, and the chap who had permission on the other has just bought his first house, and is therefore not about that much, doing as much overtime as he can to pay for d.i.y. Having seen several posts on here regarding newbies trying to take shortcuts into shooting, i must say there is nothing wrong with my legs, i've been to a few farms in my area, and been told that either shooting is not available, or is already sewn up. I've explained i'm not looking to usurp another shooter, just fit in around them/help out where i can, but as several members have posted, there is not that much land compared to the number of people living here, and the number of shooters wanting rights. Therefore i'd like to ask if anyone could pm me the contact details for Brentwood pigeon club, as they seem to have a lot of land around here, and as a nightworking cabbie i can shoot midweek, which i'm told is a plus for them. Also, if anyone fancies a bit of company, i'd love to tag along and help out when/whereever, i don't mind a bit of hard work, i'm a safe gun, and i pay my way. This isn't an alternative to doing my own looking, i get out when i can to try and gain permissions, but not long been married/bought the house, so most time is spent working/fixing stuff/ with new(ish) wife, so long days of knocking and smiling are few and far between.
