Partridge

Recommended Posts

I fancy rearing a few partridge (french) - I already keep a good number of chicken, and just fancy keeping a few initially, but also maybe releasing a few if it goes well - my house borders my shoot so I can effectively use my garden and pens as release pens!

How is best to go about it? Buy in fertile eggs and hatch in my incubator? Buy them as day olds??

Any advice?

Either would be fine ,there hard work tho you need to keep a close eye on them between 3 and 6 weeks as this is the time they get ill mostly .

The only thing about using your back garden to release them is they will always come back there be it on the shoot day or other this maybe ok for you .

Depending on how many you have pens are good to release from but not all at once ie 3 pens same time same area or you will have 1 big covey .

Good luck :good:
