Gun Servicing

Hi

I am very new to this but my licence is en route and I have been offered a gun by a mate of mine at "mates rates".

The gun is an old ou AYA Yeoman but it hasn't had much use and hasn't been used for around 5 years.

I presume this isn't a problem but that it will need to be serviced, lubed etc?

What is the cost of this sort of overhaul?

Thanks

If it works then may not need a service (Yeoman are like old boots!) however a strip and clean of the action is about £50 round my way it may be all gunged up inside if its been left barrels up and full of oil (little oil and barrels down is the way to store a gun and grease not oil on metal to metal contacts)

Make sur eit fits you and have some lessons at a clay ground while you wait for SGC to arrive while it may look a good deal at mates rates you may be buying into a whole host of issues that wont help your shooting.

Well the guy I'm about to have my lessons off said dont buy it but stubborn as I am I bought his ou and his old sbs for 250 quid the pair

To be honest, if they don't fit me then I will sell them on as the yeoman has only had 30 carts through it and has then sat in the cupboard for 5 years or so

It will also give me a chance to have a go at stripping them myself without worrying about doing any damage to an expensive gun - anyone got a decent link for info on stripping and cleaning?
