Darcshadow
ok, so you can't legally fire a shotgun within 50 yards of a public area right, but does this apply to blanks? for example, taking the shot out of a cartridge because you can fire a blank firing pistol less than 50 yards for example in your garden im assuming? thanks
Billy.
ok, so you can't legally fire a shotgun within 50 yards of a public area right, but does this apply to blanks? for example, taking the shot out of a cartridge because you can fire a blank firing pistol less than 50 yards for example in your garden im assuming? thanks You can legally fire a firearm within 50 feet of the centre of a public highway. Common misconception. It is an offence under the Highways Act 1980 s 161(2) to light any fire on or over a carriageway, or discharge any firearm or firework within 50 feet of the centre of a highway which is a carriageway, with the consequence that a user of the carriageway is injured, interrupted or endangered. silpig5
the bit in the law says , if causeing concern or upset , then its a no no , so letting off a blank in a built up area would qualify a nasty visit for you !

Darcshadow
ahh ok Thats a good thing to know haha, well at least i was being safer, at least it wasn't me thinking 50 feet and it actually being 50 yards what are the laws regarding noise however, for example in a built up area, for example one shot wouldn't be any more trouble than a big firework ? this is hypothetical guys dont worry im not some urban rabbiter

Distinctly different from a firework going off sound wise. Obviously if it occurs with no good reason. If you are shooting within earshot of housing then you should have no bother although the police may visit. If someone were to let off a blank in the garden then there's gonna be trouble I think. All IMO of course!
Guest cookoff013
i recomend you dont take the shot out of a cartridge, i`ve fired a cartridge that got loaded with 2 wads instead of shot. there was a big bang, lots of smoke, and some smouldering powder. very unpleasent. cleaning the mess is a nightmare.
