WoodyPopper
I was out walking the dog this morning and noticed that a couple of fields of winter wheat (or something similar) have a yellow border about a yard wide, all the way round. It looks like they have been sprayed with weedkiller. It was obviously deliberate and a neat job but why would a farmer do that?
Grandalf
To stop the weeds coming into the field from the field border. Most farms now leave a three metre strip around the headlands, they get payment for this, but the danger is weed encroachment.
