Blunderbuss
Although I have a few local shotgun permissions the only one where I can use the .22LR & HMR is a 40 mile round trip away It's also short on rabbits. Despite this I headed over there this afternoon to do some armed rambling. On a whim, I decided to knock on the doors of a few local farms I'd been eyeing up for a while. There was no one about and I was about to head off when I decided to give a local stables/livery a go. To cut a long story short the owner was a nice bloke and shoots himself with an air rifle. He was more than happy to let me shoot. I showed my SGC, FAC and insurance and he showed me the boundaries, and signed my permission slip (which I just happened to have on me - like you do) there and then, nice as you like . It's only 23 acres but with lots of steep rabbity banks and cleared for rimfire. There are a couple of of other lads who use air rifles there and some who ferret, so I don't have it all to myself, but chuffed nonetheless It's full of rabbits and the best thing of all is that its less than half a mile from my house - walking distance! Well chuffed. This place has been under my nose for ages and I ignored it as I thought it would be spoken for, or I'd get knocked back by a snooty horsey owner. I went back later and had a very quick wander and christened it by harvesting a couple of bunnies.
