limestone_cowboy
A big thanks to Caeser (Steve) for another top day out yesterday. We set up next to a cattle feeder with crow deeks on the feeder and pigeon deeks aboput 20-30 yards to the left of the crows. It soon got busy as the crows investigated the feeder and the pigeons that did fly by, almost always came in to have a look. Weather was warm with a mixture of sunshine, cloud and a stiff breeze, with a little tiny shower about three o'clock. We did witness a massive thunder storm about two to three miles away but it never came near us. All in all another great day on Caeser's permissions, which are extensive and have just about every crop growing at the moment, so harvest time must be a blast! oh, and a jolly good laugh too. Did you know that the French for "Rifle Shooting" is "Raffel Shouting"? Over 60 blackies (crow and jackdaw) and 12 woodies in the bag. We did shoot a lot more that "flimped" away never to be seen again. Should one count the flimpers in one's tally? Flimped, you might ask? We have decided the new word for pricked and not found is "Flimped". flew away with a limp! Thanks again to Caeser (Steve) for taking me, the use of all the decoys etc and the ride from Lancashire to Yorkshire, truly, a good bloke. fenboy
A good day out----but personally I would not mention the ones you flimped/pricked/wounded vermin they may well be but they still deserve the respect of a clean kill, dont get me wrong I know it happens to all of us but highlighting the fact is just giving ammo to the anti brigade just to mention the ones you got is enough in my eyes. caeser
It was an enjoyable day. Considering the time of year, but I always like to have a go at the blacks at this time of year to keep the landowner happy. Also a few woodies for my tea as a bonus.
