RUNCEMOUNT
Another short video of alfie. Hope you enjoy, it's bleedy hard trying to get him to stay after i have shot things. He listened well today though, now that i am out more often with him. Edited May 31, 2011 by RUNCEMOUNT
Frenchieboy
Alfie is coming on well there and looking in real good condition. How old is he and how long have you been training him? The only thing that I would say (And I am not finding fault as it could have been that the video was cut short and Alfie is working well) is that at the end of the video you told him to sit yet he didn't - unless the video was cut short before he did - I would have pursued it and insisted that he obeyed the "sit" command and then given praise for his good work! However that was a good retrieve, as have been all of the others you have shown! Well done!
RUNCEMOUNT
Hi frenchie. He is nearly 3yrs old in june or july (cant remember which one), I had him from when he was around 6-7months old and it's basically only the last year i have been seriously into getting him out and about with me, as i did not do a lot of shooting. (work commitment's) No, he did not sit for me at the end of the video, but i know if i had persisted he would have done so, but i had been out since 4am and i felt he was knackered. I also regret not getting him to give it to me in my hand, which was pointed out to me in another video, but i not to bothered about that as yet, as i out a lot more now so it should come. He did another good retrieve today aswell, he jumped a short fence and retrieved a rabbit at about 45yrds for me in thickish grass, i did not get that on video as my blackberry phone froze up... (was gutted) Thanks for the comment's.
Frenchieboy
He's still a bit of a youngster then with the capacity to settle down and continue learning! I'm sure that it will all come together in time. The crucial thing is that he looks like he enjoys his work and that you have a very good working relationship with him! Even as he is you must be proud of him mate!
RUNCEMOUNT
Managed to get him on camera again today. Another tidy retrieve from him, i think. I think he was thinking of jumping up that slight wall, but he must have had 2nd thought's and gone around...
